Do Seek Their Meat From God

The title of the short story illustrates the assumption humans make in regards to God's influence.  The title refers to the panthers' instinct that provisions will be provided.  Often, it is forgotten that God's work does not only affect humans.  In the story, the settler takes away the panthers' right for a meal provided by God. Later, the settler realizes how his actions may have changed God's plan for the panthers.  A broader interpretation is that no matter what level of hierarchy (child: parent) they all rely on God's influence.
